Our self-publish process
Ross works closely with you the author and also specialist book editing and fellow printing professionals, to ensure your printed self-published book or publication is a great read, with an appealing cover and high quality interior page design layout throughout, to achieve the final result you can be proud of!

1: free consultation and introduction
We provide a 1 hr free consultation to discuss your book project, which helps you to determine if we are ideal partners for your book project. For this meeting, it is helpful for us, for you to provide book samples you like.

2: plan your book project with us
Using your draft Microsoft Word manuscript as a guide, enables us to provide you with budget options for book jacket design and sample page spreads; cover artwork and page typesetting, and finally printing.
Manuscript editing and proofreading is additional as required.

3: supply your manuscript and images
When you’re ready to proceed with your book project, you supply us with your final manuscript in Microsoft Word and imagery as separate files – illustrative, photographic, digital or hardcopy images. Files can be supplied via USB, email, we transfer, dropbox or google drive. Hardcopy images are best supplied in person or by courier.

4: manuscript editing; image scannings
Depending on the extent of editing input your manuscript requires and dependent on your budget, we would recommend a thorough copy edit to check for consistency in style, grammar, spelling, appropriate language for your book genre and readers. We can arrange professional scanning of images, and source any additional imagery required.

5: design; typesetting; proofreading
You can choose from a selection of cover design concepts exclusively created for your book project title and imagery; and internal page spread samples from your manuscript. Then, final cover artwork and page formatting in Adobe InDesign; proofreading for spelling, punctuation, word breaks, paragraph breaks, contents and page numbering; supply of pdf files for your critiquing and feedback; and final sign-off for print.

6: print and market your book
We provide printing quotes for Truepress inkjet, digital/Indigo or offset printing to match your budget and quantities required. Offset is for large print quantities, lesser numbers call for digital/Indigo and Truepress inkjet printing. Supply of printers pdf proofs is standard, but we can arrange quotes for hardcopy book proofs as well.
You are responsible for the marketing, distribution and pricing of your self-published book.
